How to Prepare

IF YOU ARE SICK, PLEASE RESCHEDULE!!

Even though you will be sitting still, getting a tattoo can be physically taxing to your body. I advise my clients to prepare the same way that you would for a workout at the gym. If you are feeling sick or are showing symptoms of an illness, please contact to reschedule. I don’t want to catch your cold, and illness can impede your body’s ability to properly heal your tattoo. Some medications can affect healing as well, so please disclose any relevant medications on the consent form. For safety reasons, I cannot tattoo anyone taking antibiotics or Accutane. If you are unsure how your body will react to a tattoo, please ask your doctor before getting tattooed.

Be Rested

Get a full night of sleep before your tattoo appointment.

Eat

A light meal an hour or two before your appointment is ideal. Don’t be hungry, don’t be full. I typically have candy in the lobby, but it may be a good idea to bring a sugary snack just in case you get light-headed.

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water in the week prior to your appointment. Tattoos heal best in hydrated skin. I have water in the lobby, but it may be a good idea to bring your own.

Bring ID

Every client will need to have a state-issued photo identification, according to Minnesota state law.

Dress Appropriately

  • You will be laying/sitting still for possibly hours, wear something comfy.
  • Make sure the area being tattooed is accessible and clothing will stay out of the tattooed area on its own. You can remain covered as much as you are comfortable with, but I will need at least 2-3 inches around the tattoo.
  • Wear clean clothes. This will ensure proper healing.
  • Your clothes may get stained with ink. Don’t wear anything where this will be a problem. I am not responsible for damage to clothing.

Shaving

I will shave the area before the tattoo, it isn’t necessary to shave on your own. If the area is particularly hairy, a gentle trim with an electric razor may save us both time.

Guests

Respectful guests are always welcome! The lobby has a comfy couch and big TV. There is space in the procedure room for 1 or 2 more, as long as they aren’t disruptive or moving the client. Guests under 18 must wait in the lobby. No animals please, registered service animals exempt.
